What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor adventure using a hand held GPS (Global Positioning System) reciever and other
techniques to find hidden treasures called Geocaches. Geocaches are hidden by other Geocachers and the
coordinates are listed on the Geocaching website. There are several types of Geocaches, and most contain a
logbook and small toys/trinkets for trading. The rules are simple; If you take something, you must leave
something. After finding the Geocache and signing the log, return to the website to share your adventure.

San Antonio Parks/Natural Areas
Geocaching is a wonderful way to be outside exploring San Antonio Parks and Natural Areas.
Natural Areas are unique to the park system because their goal is to preserve the land in as
close to a natural state as possible. Geocachers, like all visitors, are asked to help
preserve the Natural Areas.
